IMPORTANT: ALL APPLICANTS MUST READ AND CHECK THE APPROPRIATE BOX FOR EACH ITEM.

A visa may not be issued to persons who are within specific categories defined by law as inadmissible to the United States (except when a waiver is obtained in advance). Is any of the following applicable to you?

Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty or other similar legal action? Have you ever unlawfully distributed or sold a controlled substance(drug), or been a prostitute or procurer for prostitutes?
My response: Hell No! Even if so, I wouldn't tell you isn't it? So what if I "procure" them?

Have you ever been refused admission to the U.S., or been the subject of a deportation hearing or sought to obtain or assist others to obtain a visa, entry into the U.S., or any other U.S. immigration benefit by fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful means? Have you attended a U.S. public elementary school on student (F) status or a public secondary school after November 30, 1996 without reimbursing the school?
My response: I assume before Nov 30th, 1996 it's ok to move away from schools without paying!

Do you seek to enter the United States to engage in export control violations, subversive or terrorist activities, or any other unlawful purpose? Are you a member or representative of a terrorist organization as currently designated by the U.S. Secretary of State? Have you ever participated in persecutions directed by the Nazi government of Germany; or have you ever participated in genocide?
My response: Duh! 30 Million Duh! As jew affiliate: Yeah! barred all those Nazi bastard from coming in to US......

Have you ever been afflicted with a communicable disease of public health significance or a dangerous physical or mental disorder, or ever been a drug abuser or addict?
Yes No

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Logically speaking, who on earth would like to declare one's involvement with terrorist organization while applying for US Visa? Isn't that digging your own grave? I'm sure those JI terrorist would fill up in escaping to US.. :)

If u carefully peruse questions, it's like asking are you going to enter US and rob our people, kill them and sell drugs? Duh! Have you ever charged with kerb crawling? (prostitute procurer) Don't they have common sense?

I think Condi (Condolezza Rice) might need to revamp their forms as the new State Secretary.

Can't wait to go jalan-jalan in Los Angeles! Saw LRT train stuck quarter way before reaching platform of KJ station. Pity all those passengers. Traffic lites all gone. So driving was a little chaotic & dangerous. Post offices can't operate. So did the atm machines...... neither my cellular phone worked...the network congested like hell.....

Then came the break news from Hitz FM, some power station failure in klang affected souhtern half of Malaysia...........and I thought whole nation were held hostage again due to problematic TNB....... had that bad experience during 1996 major blackout. I am sure Danial appreciate his Christmas as well…….. This write up is dedicated to all those who came from families which rejoice inter-religious relationship by celebrating Christmas together.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Year Resolution

Call it an iron man New Year resolution or whatever you like.
Next year, I aim to attempt all remaining ACCA level 2 papers in 1 sitting. I’m running out of time. The chances of me carrying all 4 papers at once are fairly ok, given the way I answered my exam questions recently. (For those who’re not familiar with ACCA study structure, no, definitely it’s not a good thing)

What I need is some semangat to feel that I’m good and the rest can fuck off and die!
Strong discipline and ultimate perseverance are rudimentary elements that I need to shove in. I had a lot of feedbacks from healthy skeptics suggesting that I don’t fit ACCA criteria. I am more “lawyerish” than “ACCAish” and I believe such opinions transpire because of my involvement in debates and the books that I read. It’s pretty tough to convince some accounting freaks that semantics skills, logical reasoning ability, development of opinion and perspectives and contemporary knowledge are indispensable. Which of course, being an average reasonable and well read tertiary students require interest in good literature material. Just imagine, my International Jews (by Henry Ford) has been circulating ACCA blocks couple of times for the past 6 months. It’s not that these people aren’t interested. It’s just that they don’t know what good books to read. Freedom of speech, discussing issues affecting us directly or indirectly are not mutually exclusive from acquiring technical knowledge or specific studies.

I have proven myself to some morons before when I scored A+ for my Company account and I’ll prove it again this time…..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2004 is certainly the year to be remembered. . . . . . . . .why?

I had managed to conduct SIFE Project in Mexico after months of red tapes nightmare coupled with extreme sleep deprivation.

Pick up a little bit of Spanish for survival, failed selection to SIFE World cup in Barcelona and lost to IIUM in the first ever Royals final which has UiTM team in it. I guess first runner up isn’t that bad after all.

The debate trip to UK saw us got tangled with British issues in Oxford and Cambridge was just too cold and bad lunches all week. Not to mention colossal politicking work involved before we were able to pick up flight ticket. I’ll teach all this civil servant a good lesson when I get my way up.

I am now stuck at crossroads again, figuring out which path shall lead me to my dream. Especially when the US students exchange program committee gave me green signal.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MMU Worlds 2005

I was mesmerized with Wu Meng’s test debate speech.

We were thrashed by Oxford Union and Melbourne University on debate about putting women on frontline and got fucked by Sydney Union when we went to debate room with absolutely no idea at all about the McCarthyism and extended on Communism containment policy. (I guess third plate is just fine)

New Year celebration was appalling! Just imagined 1000 over people crammed into 1 big bungalow (lets not mention the 1KM walks) and they called it as pure hedonistic fun?. . . .Sigh! . . . . . . . . They were being generous with boozes and shorties, that I was sure.......

My team broke for ESL. Sadly, it ends up as Worlds ESL Quarterfinalist. The good thing is, UiTM has two teams broke for ESL category and I think it’s a hell of improvement.

I thought dining experience in Six Happiness during Championship dinner was appalling as well, when we had some ane serving Briyani in an isolated halal area. Luckily, our UiTM junior bunch was extremely liberal; we moved to non halal section and get to taste best of both halal and non halal world. I salute you guys all!

MMU certainly went on with their cost cutting exercise and it becomes so apparent when they let 1000 over people straying after Grand Final and expect 250 cabs to come simultaneously and chauffeur the crowd away………. I’m sure with profits from worlds; MMU would be able to finance their participation for 4-5 Worlds ahead. Bravo!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We’ll leave for Sarawak VC CUP this coming Friday. Wish me all the best and good luck.
It' me and Danial again. Deja vue isn't it? We were in VC Cup Arau before, represented Kedah. Now we're Shah Alam A..........:)

In France they had massive problems with hijab, skull cap, large crucifix and turban. In Malaysia, it’s serban!

Pardon me if I sounded rude, I don’t think the ratio decidendi of recent ruling of Court of Appeal was really appealing, but rather appalling! Quote Datuk Gopal Sri Ram in his decision “If the courts were to interfere, we might as well manage the schools”. “We have to interpret the constitution sensibly and in the context of a multiracial society”. These statements are highly dubious. Two things could be inferred; One, Government now has the right to determine what kind of religious clothing would be acceptable. No offence, consider the impacts and precedents set in Court of Appeals, which later would bind future High court cases, if suddenly a headmaster decides in his capacity that tudung (veil) is no longer acceptable, then, all students must now take off their tudung. KYSM are known to put this into practice. Girls were told explicitly to take their tudung off shall they accept the offer to study there. Secondly, Government can now decide to what degree you can practice your religion. That’s what I got from reading between the lines. Serban is unacceptable to one school because it resemble extremism in practicing the religion. Or resemble PAS more likely. In the future, decent dress code would correlate with degree of religiousness and categorized as follows:

A) Non practicing
B) Moderate practitioner
C) Not so Pious
D) Pious
E) Overtly Pious

I do acknowledge that it’s much better in Malaysia, because the decision falls under school principal's jurisdiction. Pupils still have option to go to another school that tolerates Serban. Pupils don’t have that kind of option in Singapore or France. It just reminds me of what happens in Rosa Parks Montgomery case and Brown Vs Board of Education in United States. Although it involves extreme case of racial discrimination, in essence, it’s about black students being deprived of going to schools of their choices which is nearer to their residence. Deprivation of choice based on differences. (Ours is dress code, theirs’ were skin color)

In Malaysia, a lot of us were told to accept broad definition of decent attire. To be more accurate, some quarters within the Authority impose their definition of decency. A year a go, there were some complaints on RTD officers (Road Transport Department). They have refused to conduct driving license test of certain people whom they claimed to wear improper attire. What constitute decent attire? Long sleeve with tie? Would jeans and t-shirt be acceptable? Or women have to wear baju kurung/kebaya all the time to look decent? What constitute skimpish dressing? Hijab?

In principle, can government decide for their citizen, what should they wear? I believe the same principle should apply across the board. If government can't tell you which fashion to choose or what color shall fit you, they also should not force their version of decency. It’s not that people go naked in RTD for their driving license test. Malaysians still possess common sense! Are we not?

Then, most probably, what PAS Government did in Kelantan like forcing women to be hijab clad, or even what the Taleban did in Afghanistan is totally justified….Think about it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://liberatedmalay.blogspot.com/2004/11/in-france-they-had-massive-problems.html' title='In France they had massive problems with hijab, skull cap, large crucifix and turban. I just don't have the time and heart to write and on top of everything I'm kind of away for a while in UK, enjoying every bit of civilisation.

Two days ago, I had the opportunity to join in the House of Commons evening sitting. Nevermind all the US style of security check, I thought it was a refreshing experience, looking at democracy at work. There was huge debate going on Retrospective Pension Plan and banning of fox hunting in England and Wales. . . . . . and guess what? The were a lot of cheap shots exchanged by these British MPs. Sebijik like our debate practise back in UiTM. Hilarious! looking at how the debate went in what we assumed in Instituition that houses many good debates for centuries, I want to believe that our UiTM debaters posessed the potential to be at par if not better than those MPs!

Lets hope that UiTM do much better in Cambridge debate. In Oxford, we were caught off guard with British Isles issues like prosecuting police for shooting wrongly. It's true when Tubs told us to read their newspapers 2 weeks in advance. I literally surf BBC website everyday, but who can guess the paramount issue would be some shooting in England? Right now in UK, I have been reading the 'cheap' Independent Newspaper every single day. I'm all prepared for Fox hunting or even smoking ban in London. Can't wait for Cambridge!!!

P/s: I hate cold sandwiches for lunch. Everything is cold. Banana is cold, their choc chip cookies, even their milk cold! I'm going to MSD for Hot Malaysian lunch. It’s like taboo in Malaysia (like the sin of close proximity).
I went around and ask…….

Harnessing nuclear energy would bring about destruction to entire peninsular.

We might even sink this country like what the French Government did to Atoll Murora Islands.
Kita patutlah menggunakan nuclear untuk mempertahankan Negara… Really?
We’re not ready.
Nuclear? I don’t want to die……..

Amazingly, that’s what I got.

Government of Malaysia finally makes sense as they would now study alternative energy to keep Malaysia free from volatile crude oil market. It’s high time now for us to purge as much as possible the liquid sin (petrol la…) from this beloved tanah air. I would like to believe the next generation of Proton cars would be powered with LNG or even hybrid model or best of all, diesel cars. I’ll love it when the time comes…….

However, if you have carefully follows our electricity making track record, there are a lot of IPP (independent power producer) in the market supplying electricity to TNB are thermal based. (This means they burn fuel to generate electricity) I am not very sure the scale of reform, whether it would also involve our IPP. But I am sure that once we shift to clean and reliable nuclear fusion, we’ll be able to live comfortably without having to worry petrol price hike.

Living proof? The Republic of France. They have realized how bad crude oil volatility affected them long ago, during the Middle East oil embargo. Since then, they embarked on long effort of cutting their oil dependency. Vehicles are mostly diesel powered. Numerous inventions of smart cars and energy efficient vehicles have taken place. Charles De Gaulle must be really proud of France today. 80 percent of their energy is being supplied by number of civil nuclear reactor. Clean and efficient. On top of everything petrol conservation tax was imposed to cut government subsidies. No more shocking wave from Middle East….. No more petrol black mail…

On the other hand, what happen to United States?
Some countries just never learn. Apparently, they started similar program with France, but once the oil prices dropped to US 20 per barrel, they became greedy monster. They bought tones and tones of oil end up creating huge reserves that would last 3 years shall there is any embargo in future. They just love gas guzzling vehicles. SUV is huge market in United States. I remembered watching CNN while I was in Stellenbosch Worlds 2002, some Good Samaritan in US launch Project Detroit. According to the spokeswoman, it is unpatriotic for US citizens to use SUVs because every cent paid for petrol would necessarily contribute to the terrorist states in Middle East. That is just one way of looking at it…………Come to think about it, shall Saudi Arabia decides to play with the oil tap, the oil prices would go on roller coaster ride again.

Here is the 1 million dollar question: Would Middle East countries go bust, once whole world cut their oil dependency?

I’m looking forward for cool ice lemon tea for Iftaar…..Ice lemon tea anyone?

Another hantu movie: Exorcist, The Beginning

The last time I went to watch horror movie was end of last year with debaters gang (Hafiedz, Adiba, Lynn, Vinay and some other which I don’t remember). The Stairs, if my memory serves me right. That I thought would be last time ever. I was forced to watch it (Hafiedz literally dragged me). Half way through the movie, I shut my eyes and nearly shouted. (There was this horror scene where the ghost appear on the mirror) Then I start diverting my attention like SMSing my friends, contemplating on which stall in uptown selling best Char Kuey Teow and even scratching my ass. It didn’t work. Hafiedz was disgusted when I beg him to leave the cinema. He started to call me chicken and sorts. They just don’t understand. I brush my teeth every single night in the hostel bathroom in front of mirror. I don’t wan.t to imagine or even come across with such creatures while happily doing my routine.

Anyway, today I challenge myself again by watching The Exorcist with Baini, Kam, Emi Fatmawaty, Ayie and Fiza in TGV Bukit Raja. After the first few minutes, I was freezing. I guess that’s the premium you’re paying for extra traumatizing effect while watching horror movie in TGV. I suspect that Kam leaked to Emi that I takut tengok wayang hantu. She attempted to surprise me couple of times throughout the show. Heheh :) , it didn’t work. As I’m pretty convince that Mr. Devil and gang were tied down throughout Ramadan……Some childish part of me……This latest Exorcist apparently is about the origin of the evil spirit before it gets to UK (Somehow explain Father Merrin first encounter such spirit in Kenya). It would help you a lot if you watch the 2 earlier movies of Exorcist (don’t really remember what the girl’s name is) I honestly think it’s worth watching. Not to mention the sensational horror chilly shit you’ll be getting……Tell me what you think about it……

We end up in Bangsar Banana leaf for Iftar dinner. 1 wholesome treats after horrifying movie. Not bad. Ayie actually thank me for bringing him there. Emi plans to bring her dad later next week. Fiza looked as if she was experiencing culture shock while chewing cauliflower goreng tepung. They really need to go out more often….. Aiyoh...How could they even miss the existence of banana leaf eateries?
I guess not everybody has the same sense for good food….

Being the old chap in debate society

Three weeks from now, I’m going to be occupied with a lot of stuff. ACCA exam is coming in no time (December), I have trials in 2 weeks time and on top of everything, I have to struggle for selections to OxBridge IVs and Worlds. I just don’t know.

I felt, our debating society has evolved to the next level. Is that the case? Zero bias selections, run by professional, senior-junior now on par….Really? Nevertheless my junior debaters are really good. At least given the time frame, they are relatively young in debating world and manage to beat a lot of age old seniors. What does that mean? Seniors are going obsolete? We’re lack of effort to improve our selves? Complacency? Or these juniors are gifted with the talents?.....lucky bastards! I just feel that I’m getting old for debates. Wonder how Hafiedz (5-6 years) or Praba(I bet 2004 is his 12th years) or James Bitangga (the last time I heard 9 years) cope with it…..They say old debaters never dies. They just turn out to be lousy adjudicators.

Whatever it is, I’m going to make sure I’m going……..They are going to have a lot of trouble if I don’t go…..because then they would need to know the red tapes in bendahari office and all the messy administrative matters. Some leverage.....

My maiden posting: Special Thanks

I must thank Jeff Ooi and Aizuddin Danian for inspiring me to become part of this liberating phenomenon; Blogging.
